Urgency levels in haptic feedback

1. Informational:  (Lowest urgency)

  • Purpose: Just to inform the user, not demand immediate action.
  • Pattern: Light, single buzz.
  • Example: “Your statement is ready.”

2. Success: (Positive, but not urgent)

  • Purpose: Celebrate or confirm a positive outcome.
  • Pattern: Short, uplifting double buzz.
  • Example: “You’ve reached your savings goal.”

3. Warning: (Medium urgency)

  • Purpose: Draw attention, but not panic.
  • Pattern: Gentle, noticeable pulse.
  • Example: “You’ve used 90% of your budget.”

4. Error: (High urgency)

  • Purpose: Alert user immediately that something went wrong.
  • Pattern: Firm, sharp thump or short repeating buzz.
  • Example: “Payment failed.”

5. Critical/Urgent: (Highest urgency)

  • Purpose: Impossible to ignore, requires immediate action.
  • Pattern: Strong, repeating vibration
  • Example: “Suspicious login attempt detected.”
